Directed by Buddy Van Horn
Written by Stanford Sherman
Starring Clint Eastwood, Geoffrey Lewis, Ruth Gordon and Sondra Locke

As most of you might know, this is a sequel to Every Which Way But Loose. The Good news is, the title is easier to understand. The bad news is, The Sequel Syndrome 2. Sequel Syndrome 1 simply means that it is a remake of the original, say like the second Escape movie, or Blues Brothers, or the Ghostbusters. Sequel Syndrome 2 gives nod to the general conception that sequel can never match to the original. Okay, sequel sucks.

Now, to be honest there are more good news, provided you are Eastwood fan. Since I watched this back to back with original, I noticed that I was not lost. That's the first good news. The second is, Sondra Locke's role is reduced to that of tagging along with good ol' Clint. Perhaps a reaction to critics who howled at Sondra's performance. Personally I dislike whatever skill she possess as an actress. It took magnificent screen presence of Clint's to make us forget that she had been in six of his film. Yuck! One of few bad judgments on Clint's side. It is okay, I guess we fans have always overlooked that minor mistake.

The first movie grossed more than US 100 million, a rare feat for a small film like that. Only out- of-the-world films like Star Wars and Jaws could pull that. The millions lured the filmmaker and Eastwood to make this one, which grossed slightly lesser and won similar amount of 'boo's from the critic.

All the elements of the first film are here. Apart from Philo (Eastwood), there are Clyde, Orville (Geoffrey Lewis), Ma (Ruth Gordon), the hilarious Black Widow gang who keep losing the motorcycles, and addition, Mafia and more city boys for Philo to play with. The final fist-fight is a tad too long and boring, but there are some funny moments in it. Did I mention that there is a song during the credit, with Ray Charles and Eastwood! You got that right. But dammit, it sounded like Dirty Harry singing.

Overall, the movie just looked for moments to mine for laugh, and it might get to you. I find the Orangutan's antique are not quite as funny as the first. Besides wearing a watch, it drinks a lot despite Philo's warning in the first movie, "I don't want Clyde drinkin' except on Saturdays,". There are individual sex scenes involving Philo and Lynn, Clyde and his girlfriend, and old couple and Ma! Yuck! You might have trouble digesting that. Thank god there are no nudity (with exception of Clyde and his gal, of course)

I had fun in this movie, but I don't recommend it to non-Eastwood fans. It is as in...innocent...no, not that word. Innocuous! It is as innocuous as the first film. I like that word. Innocuous! Innocuous! Where art thou!
